Big event at Mather Field Skatepark Sacramento. It was a lot of fun to go out there with my Ascent Streetboards to ride and show off the products. We ended up spending a lot of time with Fin and Diego, two local Sacramento kids that skateboard. It was really good that they already had skating experience. It meant that they were well balanced and felt comfortable with a board rolling under their feet. With just a little instruction, they were off, riding up and down the sidewalk.
Meanwhile, the skateboard competition was awesome! I had no idea the talent of riders in Sacramento. The event was run via jam sessions, and as soon as the whistle blew, riders were throwing it down. Even as the jam session would end, skaters were colliding trying to throw one last trick.
The booth setup wasn’t quite what I’d call organized. Even though the event was well sponsored, I only saw one booth, and no one working it. I think they were giving away hotdogs but didn’t get one. And despite being a skate event at a public park, there was a lot of drinking and smoking. Maybe I’m lame, but I don’t see the three working well together. Everyone was definitely having a good time.
